Distinguish the narrator’s point of view from the reader’s own point of view.

STUDENT PRODUCT

Spider view + evidence from the vacuum-drill entry + reader view + difference sentence.

LESSON SEQUENCE

• 1.Use the vacuum drill Reread the safety-drill entry only. Name the familiar school structure:

students practise for a danger.

• 2.Spider’s point of view Record the spider-specific danger: the vacuum cleaner. Note that Spider

panics/trembles while treating the drill as normal school life.

• 3.Reader’s point of view Students state how a human child would view a vacuum cleaner in a

classroom and why that differs from Spider’s view.

• 4.Name the difference Finish: Spider sees the vacuum as ___, while I see it as ___ because ___.

• Uses the vacuum-drill entry, not a free-choice event.

• States Spider’s point of view with evidence from the entry.
