Draw evidence from a literary text to support analysis and recognize when evidence limits a conclusion.
STUDENT PRODUCT
Fixed Cancuén claim + two supporting findings + uncertainty sentence.
LESSON SEQUENCE
- 1.Use the Cancuén question Everyone works on the same claim: What did investigators conclude
about the Cancuén victims and their possible killers?
- 2.Finding 1 Record one finding from the prepared Cancuén evidence that supports the conclusion
about what happened to the victims.
- 3.Finding 2 Record a second finding that supports the investigators’ reasoning about the
suspected killers.
- 4.Mark the uncertainty Students complete: The evidence supports ___, but it does not prove ___
about the killers. Revise any claim that states the uncertain part as fact.
ASSESSMENT · LOOK FOR
- Keeps the analysis on the Cancuén victims and suspected killers.
- Uses two distinct findings from the source evidence.
- Clearly separates the supported conclusion from what remained uncertain.
