grown dog lying at the far copied out side
- Prepared passages: Passage 7, Passage 10, Passage 11
- Passage 10 - a puppy facing the grown dog, a tennis ball between their paws
Lesson sequence
1 All the new toys - 5 min
- Passage 11 - a grown dog curled round a sleeping puppy, a tennis ball beside them
- Focus:
- One old toy against a floor of new ones
- Teacher model:
- Read this page and ask which toy the puppy wants.
- Prepared text:
- Passage 7 2 Who brings it - 6 min
- Teacher direction:
- Write who brings the ball, and what happens then.
- Expected answer:
- Baby brings it, and they run across the yard together.
- Prepared text:
- Passage 10 3 The last page - 4 min
- Teacher direction:
- Write how Boomer feels at the end and what happens to all the new toys after the old ball brings the dogs together.
- Expected answer:
- Boomer is happy to have Baby next to him, and the new toys are not mentioned again.

- Passage 11
