Lesson sequence
1 On the bus - 4 min
- Passage 2 - an enormous blue-shirted torso filling the page, a huge black mustache across it
- Passage 7 - the tuba player red-faced, the tuba's bell beside him
- Focus:
- A question asked by somebody being stared at
- Teacher model:
- Read the man's question on the bus and ask why he asks it.
- Prepared text:
- Passage 2 2 At the concert - 7 min
- Teacher direction:
- Find the same question here and write who is asking it and about whom.
- Expected answer:
- The tuba player, thinking it about the audience - and the book says he knew the answer.
- Prepared text:
- Passage 7 3 What swapped - 4 min
- Teacher direction:
- Say what has changed between the two times.
- Expected answer:
- He is the one being stared at both times, but the second time he understands why.
- Prepared text:
- Passage 2, Passage 7
