Teacher direction:: Every page in this book is built the same way. Listen to two and see if you can say what the third will do.

Teacher model:: I read the cup page and count the parts out loud. One: she says which she likes best. Two: her mother answers. Three: she gives her reason. Four: she says the first line again - except here she does not, quite. One small word has gone missing, and it is the only page where that happens.

Teacher direction:: Using Passages 1, 2 and 6, fill the four parts for each page.

Expected answer:: The stockings: she likes the red ones best; her mother says the white ones look good with that dress; she can jump higher in the red ones; she likes the red ones best - and this page has one extra line in front of all four, saying her mother does not understand about red. The jacket: red best; the blue one, because it is too cold out; how can she be Red Riding Hood in blue; red best. The cup: red best; her mother asks what difference it makes and says the juice is already poured in the green one; juice tastes better in the red cup; and then the last line comes back missing a word.
