Distinguish the narrator’s point of view from the reader’s own point of view.

LESSON SEQUENCE
- 1.Use the vacuum drill Reread the safety-drill entry only. Name the familiar school structure:
students practise for a danger.
- 2.Spider’s point of view Record the spider-specific danger: the vacuum cleaner. Note that Spider
panics/trembles while treating the drill as normal school life.
- 3.Reader’s point of view Students state how a human child would view a vacuum cleaner in a
classroom and why that differs from Spider’s view.
- 4.Name the difference Finish: Spider sees the vacuum as ___, while I see it as ___ because ___.
ASSESSMENT · LOOK FOR
- Uses the vacuum-drill entry, not a free-choice event.
- States Spider’s point of view with evidence from the entry.
- States a distinct reader view and explains the difference.
